Hancock’s Hotel Court & Restaurant was located at 2104 Florida Ave. in Tampa, Florida. The hotel court originally opened sometime before 1949. The proprietors of the original hotel court were George & Floy Hancock.

The motel underwent a big expansion sometime in the mid to late 1950s. The sign was changed to better showcase all the amenities and a new restaurant was added to the premises. A brand new heated pool with a diving board was now located in the center for lounging confidently or touching your friend while they sit backwards on the diving board.

I am particularly fond of the Hancock’s Courtesy Car in the postcard below and what I assume to be George Hancock standing right next to it on the op half and resting his arm on the window in the bottom.

The building, and all signs have been gone for a while now. In its stead, a large, multi-colored apartment/condo complex.
